About Pregnancy Testing
It’s important to get a lab-quality pregnancy urine (hCG) test to verify your pregnancy. The pregnancy test you will be administered measures the levels of hCG in your urine, a hormone that is secreted when you are pregnant.
The most common signs and symptoms of pregnancy include:
- Missed or unusual period
- Fatigue
- Nausea/vomiting
- Breast tenderness
- Frequent urination
- Mood swings or changes

About STI/STD Testing
The first step to take when you think you have been exposed to an STI/STD is to get tested. Some common symptoms of STIs include:
- Unusual odor
- Vaginal discharge
- Burning during urination
- and genital sores.
Sometimes STIs do not cause any symptoms at all and it is still possible to spread these diseases/infections without ever having symptoms. After receiving your positive result for your pregnancy test, we will test you for STIs/STDs to ensure that you have a healthy start to your pregnancy. If any of those tests come up positive, we will connect you with the resources you need to get the proper treatment.
How Pregnancy Testing Works
Urine hCG tests are highly accurate but not perfect so a limited OB ultrasound is typically also offered:
- to identify that baby is in a safe location (not ectopic)
- to confirm a viable pregnancy
- to assess how far along the pregnancy is
